Oh Yes I Can (a blindness related poem.)
You wonder why I don't like you1

You wonder why I feel so uncomfortable2

Maybe you don't like me because of this3

but this is why4

Oh, yes I can 5

and I'll do it6

I'll show you7

I don't need pity, but I need friendship8

You don't think I can walk down the front steps9

but you don't understand10

Yes I can11

I am blind not crippled12

I am capable13

just like you14

I live a normal live15

I have friends like you16

Oh, yes I can 17

and I'll do it18

I'll show you19

I don't need pity, but I need friendship20

You don't think I can communicate21

You think I get offended easily22

You think I need someone to speak up for me23

No, I don't and I can24

I am not mute25

I am only blind26

I can behave and look after myself34

Mom doesn't always have to be with me37

Inspired by another poem. I understand this is not everyone. It's a certain small group of folks who thinks we need protection and help every moment. This is to them and for them. It all drives me nuts and so I am passionate about it. Though, the good thing is most people don't act like that, which is a good thing. So, I hoped you have enjoyed!
